Gilston is a preferred and pre-approved contractor for the New York City School Construction Authority. Gilston provides regular renovations and installations for the public school system, as well as round-the-clock emergency repairs and upgrades. After Hurricane Sandy devastated 23 schools throughout Far Rockaway, Gilston restored their electrical systems in record time and when COVID-19 struck in 2020, Gilston repaired and upgraded school ventilation systems across the five boroughs. In addition to its work on the public school system, Gilston also provides electrical systems for the city’s leading colleges and universities.

Gilston Electric was engaged by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York as the primary contractor for the City College of New York. Gilston undertook a complete rehabilitation of the Grove School of Engineering and comprehensive electrical system installation for the school’s landmark Steinman Hall.
Gilston Electric was engaged by Tutor Perini for the ground-up construction of the State University of New York Downstate’s new Public Health Academic Building. The eight-story academic medical facility houses the School of Public Health, a state-of-the-art clinical simulation center, research laboratories, data center, cold storage and multi-function project spaces
