About the project

For the 7 Line Subway Extension to Hudson Yards, Gilston Electric took on the complicated work of installing power systems for a new underground subway line without disrupting current service. The subway system’s first addition in more than 25 years, the line runs below the Lincoln Tunnel, Penn Station rail yards and other active tracks.

Gilston handled electrical work for three new ventilation buildings, each with a substation to convert medium voltage to line volt power, and provided traction power and ventilation for the subway tunnel system. Gilston also provided temperature control technology to ensure year-round passenger comfort in one of the city’s deepest underground rail platforms.
