When death tolls due to COVID-19 devastated New York’s neighborhoods, Gilston Electric sprang into action with two fast track emergency builds in the city’s most ravaged communities: Far Rockaway and Flushing. Gilston helped transform two completely raw lots into fully functioning, medical-ready COVID-19 test sites within a matter of days.
As New York University Medical Center’s trusted electrical contractor across its numerous buildings, Gilston Electric oversees the work for the highly-visible Langone campus transformation, including the Main Campus, Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn Lutheran and Hospital for Joint Disease.
With the advancing growth of patient services and the outbreak of COVID-19, NYU Langone selected Gilston Electric to construct an expansion to the campus’ existing Emergency Department on the ground floor of the Kimmel Building. Gilston transformed what was previously a shell space into 12 patient exam stations including four enclosed exam rooms, two ADA-compliant patient bathrooms, a nurses’ station, and clean and soiled utility storage.
The Queens Hospital project was a ground-up 360,000-square-foot building including a comprehensive electrical system. The project involved bridging power and communication between the main center and the new pavilion.
Gilston Electric was engaged by Tutor Perini for the ground-up construction of the State University of New York Downstate’s new Public Health Academic Building. The eight-story academic medical facility houses the School of Public Health, a state-of-the-art clinical simulation center, research laboratories, data center, cold storage and multi-function project spaces
Gilston Electric performed as the prime contractor for Bronx Lebanon Hospital, a division of BronxCare Health System, in an emergency separation of services and multiple service replacement project.
