Our Story

Sol Gilston established G&G Electric in 1926 in New York City, specializing in residential and commercial projects. For the next 37 years, Sol nurtured his new venture while mentoring his son, Marvin, teaching him the electrical trade and the importance of solid business relationships.

Marvin earned his NYC Master Electrician License in 1963 and he, along with his wife Barbara, took over the business, now named Gilston Electrical Contracting Corp. Marvin and Barbara found their niche in public works contracts and expanded the firm’s workforce from 8 to 75 employees.

In 1985, Craig Gilston joined Gilston Electrical followed by his brother Rick in 1990. Craig and Rick became the third generation owners of Gilston Electrical Contracting Corp. in 2007 growing the company to its current size of over 220 employees.

The firm is highly experienced in providing electrical contracting services for various New York City, New York State, and Federal Agencies. We are staffed at all levels with leading industry professionals and are recognized for completing highly specialized and technical construction projects under budget and on schedule.
